Its Ester and Alcohol content make it an effective antiviral agent. It's also antibacterial and antifungal. It can be used for infectious
skin issues and is a versatile essential oil for massage and body oil blends.
You've no doubt heard of ginger tea to settle the tummy? Well, the essential oil works in a similar manner. Ginger normalizes digestion,
warms the lungs and stabilizes the body after an emotional upset. I use this in my nausea blend at hospice.
Grapefruit is uplifting and helps with water retention. Although I don't currently use it in my edema blend at hospice, it would blend
nicely with another diuretic essential oil, Lemon, for this purpose. It's also good for colds and flu and as a room disinfection.Caution: photosensitivity.
Effective against respiratory infections, pneumonia, flu, common cold, lung and bronchial infections and hay fever. The green variety
is produced in Corsica and is the only one with a high oxide content.
This semi-solid has a rich, smoky, earthy aroma. The tree is sacred to the Paraguay natives and is used in meditative blends. It is
said to be anti-inflammatory and great for rheumatic and arthritic pains.
Helichrysum, commonly known as Everlasting, has unique pain-reducing, analgesic and regenerative properties due to the diketones found
only in this essential oil. Its uses include blends for burns, bruises, rheumatism, muscle aches, dermatitis and eczema. I have used
this in wound care blends at hospice and anecdotally, it appears to help.
Hinoki Wood means "white cedar" in Japanese. This essential oil is gentle on the skin and is antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal.
It produces a relaxing effect on the body.
Considered erogenous and narcotic, Jasmine has a sweet, floral scent. It's used as a rich, exquisite scent in perfumery and works
on an emotional level.
Spicy and woody, Juniper is a great analgesic and antiseptic for muscular and rheumatic issues. For me, it has a nice "after scent"
in a blend that's quite pleasing. The Prices suggest that care should be taken by anyone with kidney issues.
Good for irritated, inflamed skin, Labdanum is antibacterial, anti-infectious and anti-inflammatory.
Always know the cautions of an essential oil or carrier before buying or using.
