Melissa
Strongly antiviral, anti-inflammatory and calming to the central nervous system, Melissa is a key ingredient in my hospice blend for agitation and anxiety. Also, it's effective against the Herpes simplex virus. I combined this in a blend for a co-worker's shingles and she reported instant relief that lasted for hours.
Another of the biblical oils, Myrrh is a strong anti-inflammatory for bronchitis, skin care and PMS. Mark 15:23 says it was added to the wine offered to Christ to lessen his suffering on the cross.  Dioscorides called it "numbing."
An antidepressive and neurotonic, it can be used for nervous depression, hypertension and as a sympathetic nervous system balancing agent. It's calming and has a soft, pleasing aroma.
This extremely complex oil can be used for general skin care. It's anti-infectious and anti-inflammatory and a good expectorant. It should not be used by pregnant women or on children under the age of 10.
Aromatically very spicy, Nutmeg shold be used sparingly but is good for a variety of digestive issues from loss of appetite, to sluggish digestion, to diarrhea.
Sweet Orange is antiviral, antispasmodic, relaxing and a decent anti-depressant. It helps regulate peristalsis and its calming qualities make it a pleasant, soft choice for anxiety and nervousness.  Caution: Photosensitizing.
This essential oil is effective against bacterial, fungal and viral illnesses and since it's reasonably priced and has a pleasing sweet, floral scent, it's a good choice for balancing stronger essential oils in a blend.
Its name means "holy wood" in South America and it's a relative of Francincense. It's considered a spiritual oil but its chemical constituents make it good for colds, flu and coughs as well as for muscular aches and pains.
Useful for a variety of skin conditions, Patchouli is a good base note in a blend. I find it quite
potent and use it sparingly because, as much as I loved the 70s, I don't need to wallow in
those memories while repairing my skin.
