Strong antiseptic. It has a broad range of action against bacteria, viruses and fungi. Caution: Possible skin irritant.
Rich, earthy and warm, it reminds me of a book-lined study with chocolate-brown, leather chairs. It's said to calm extreme emotional states. The absolute contains no nicotine. However, it's considered to be an experimental oil so should be used with caution.
I use the CO2 extract, which contains no solvent residues as in the Vanilla Absolute. It has a sweet, warm and sensual aroma and is perfect for exotic or tropical blends. It's a familiar scent that's comforting.
Often used for a weak immune or circulatory system, I tend to use it as a grounding, rich base note in very small quantities. It has a deep, earthy (almost mossy, to me) aroma and can overpower a blend in a fraction of a second but gives an enticing, lingering quality that's highly appealing if used sparingly.
Its anti-inflammatory, analgesic and cell regenerating effects make Yarrow good for skin care, muscle injuries, tendinitis and neuralgia. Caution: Contains ketones. Not for pregnant women or children under the age of 10.
Sweet, narcotic and flowery, Ylang Ylang is goodo for tachycardia, insomnia and hypertension. I use it in my stress blend at hospice and the b lend is very popular. Caution: Possible dermatitis in sensitized individuals.
